The heat wave is on! It’s the middle of August and temps continue to soar in Southern California. There are 25 car shows…THIS WEEKEND! And those are just the ones I know about. One of the most worthwhile is the 15th Annual Main Street Car Show in El Segundo.
The show which featured about 400 pre-1975 rods and classics is a showcase for El Segundo’s quaint downtown area. Hosted by the El Segundo Police officers Association, the show proceeds go to many worthy causes, including the Miller’s Children’s Hospital, the El Segundo Education Foundation and Marine Animal Rescue. Main Street was lined with vintage rods, some cool daily drivers and some unique customs and special interest vehicles.
Some of those unique rides included a few magazine regulars such as the Japanese built “Rodriguez” and the Project X Chevy; there was also a 24 karat Vette; a Sturgeon Bros. racer; a tangelo 351 Windsor custom Pro Street Mustang and a ’51 Kaiser Traveler Deluxe.
Classic cars, good food and live music…not a bad way to spend a hot Summer day.
